Ray Parkins Wartime Trilogy, 3 separate titles, combined into one book. (Out of the Smoke, Into the Smother, The Sword and the Blossum). Ray Parkin was a survivor of the HMAS Perth, which was sunk in the Sunda Strait, by the Japanese Navy. Although surviving with a few others, Ray Parkin became a POW of the Japanese. He spend over a year as a POW on the Burma Railway. He was then shipped to Japan, via a steamer, where he was then taken to Omaha, working in the Coal mines.
