Description

From Book Cover Description:

This still active Royal Australian Air Force squadron is more than 55 years old. It was formed during the Great War, as part of the Flying Corps. It was based in the United Kingdom and was a training squadron within the Royal Flying Corps. Its performance received no mention in the official history but this work corrects the shortcoming.

Eather has concentrated on the squadrons activities and performance from 1939 to 1945. During World War Two, they operated with Ansons, Hudsons and Beauforts and the Squadron saw much action in the islands to our north - including the Battle for Milne Bay and the Subjugation to Rabaul.

The post 1945 period has been well covered and the squadron was equipped successfully with the Lincoln, Canberra, Phantom and F111's.

All who have served in No. 6 Squadron and all who enjoy reading about and learning of military aviation and events in the history of the RAAF are in Steve Eathers debt. He has devoted his time, enthusiasm and considerable skill to producing a history of a significant unit within the RAAFs Order of Battle. his book fill a much needed gap in our RAAF squadron history.
